Zedec Pacaldo's Vlog #1

Zedec Pacaldo's Vlog #1

Reflection:
I spent so much time, energy, and ideas doing this activity. At first, I thought of making it fully digital and printing it but I was pretty sure that the majority would print too since it is the easier way. All you have to do is to take a picture of yourself and apply filters. I find it too easy and comparisons within similar medium is expected because of how many of us are willing to do it digitally.

In my output, this is not the case. I decided to use mixed media. I started by taking an old photo of me back in grade 10. I removed the background and added a filter that "crystallizes" the photo. Then, I printed it and started painting with oil. After several hours of painting, it's finally done.

Since my painting was inspired by Spanish Contemporary Art, I wanted to add something personal. Something that represents my art and my creativity. Since I've been using a technique where I rip pieces of brown paper and paste them in different orientations for a very long time, I used it in this "masterpiece" to make it my art.

After doing this activity, I honestly realized that I have a potential in painting. For the past years of my life, I've been relying on other people when it comes to painting. I always let my older sister paint my work whenever we're told to. Now that she's away and doing much important stuff, I had no choice but to try. Thanks to the guide that I made, It was relatively easy to paint.

I was really glad that everyone appreciated my work and said that it's nice. They even thought that I was not the one who painted the work, but someone else. I can proudly say that I was the one who made it. If i'm to choose which type or style of art I'd pick, I'd definitely choose contemporary art. Why? Because it's the mix of everything. Everything that you want to express could be expressed in any way that you could possibly do. This gives us no limits and boundaries in expressing our imagination and creativity when it comes to art. My skills in digital arts were also utilized in aiding my skills in non-digital art forms like making guides digitally and printing them to guide me.
